Main duties of the job

  • In line with National Standards of Cleanliness provide a safe, hygienic
    environment for patients and staff
  • To communicate effectively with patients, work colleagues and visitors
    throughout the process of delivery of the service and at all times respecting dignity and confidentiality.
  • To carry out all designated cleaning duties in safe manner using only equipment and materials provided by the department.Compliance with policies and procedures
  • Completion of mandatory training and relevant departmental training.
  • Uses own initiative when carrying out duties on wards and departments to ensure service is provided and standards are met.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Completion of work records
  • Work completed in line with schedules and timescales
  • Target % as per NHS Framework for audit achieved
  • Reports any adverse event to line manager and completes on line form
  • Patient satisfaction surveys show no incidents \concerns regarding service
  • No issues raised via PALS 
  • To carry out all designated cleaning duties in safe manner using only equipment and materials provided by the department.Compliance with policies and procedures
  • Completion of mandatory training and relevant departmental training.
  • Uses own initiative when carrying out duties on wards and departments to ensure service is provided and standards are met.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Willingness to complete mandatory training and any departmental training\qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Customer service training\qualification
  • NVQ or BICS in Cleaning

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to follow instructions both verbal and written
  • Communicates effectively
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Able to use own initiative

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of Confidentiality
  • Demonstrates an understanding of Dignity and Respect

  • Knowledge of cleaning procedures.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience working with the public\ customers
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in the cleaning industry commercial\ healthcare etc.
  • Previous experience of working in a hospital\healthcare\care home environment
